The challenge was to create a package for a product or item of your choice, that can also be repurposed and have a second life.
I was working at a toy department at that time and handling so many boxes that the idea of making a box, as my package, crossed my mind. A box? What kind of box? What am I packing? After brainstorming and sketching ideas down I decided on a cake box. A cake box with an extended life, a life beyond the trashcan. I started a creative brief so I have some guidelines and parameters when designing and making a decision. My hypothetical client was Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins and my target audience, parents of children ages 3 to 5 years old. When thinking on a birthday party experience, I see people coming together connecting and celebrating with loved ones, so I thought of extending this experience by turning the cake box into a game board, a donuts football themed game board. Have a piece of cake and enjoy Go Donuts! Cake Game.
